Leblas‘ very own award-winning jewellery designer Arabel Lebrusan has been participating in a Project “Work In Progress” and teaching a class of jewellery professionals at Holts Academy of Jewellery the importance of Ethics and Jewellery. The program itself strives to educate upcoming self-employed jewellery professionals about the Jewellery industry and… all factors that affect it, including ethics and the environment. Arabel is one of the few professionals distinctly selected to effectively deliver this information and to enhance the quality of education for these professionals.

Born in Madrid, Arabel Lebrusan moved to London in 2005 to study for an MA in Jewellery Design at Central St Martins. Having left Spain for The Netherlands in her twenties, she spent many of the years just prior to coming to the UK travelling between Hong Kong and the Philippines, working as a commercial jewellery designer and installation artist. Her current work combines her skills as a designer and the themes and the freedom she explored as an artist.

Olivia was very happy and pleasantly surprised as the ring was delivered directly to her (no strings attached!) and right on time for the Christmas party season! She was able to show it off at her company Christmas party, and enjoyed the gazes and ahhh’s as the ring dazzled whilst catching the beams of light.

As one of today’s most influential rising stars, Scarlett Johansson is constantly in the spotlight. Her beauty is witnessed through many Dolce&Gabbana advertisement campaigns, such as L’eau the one and D&G Rose The One , and her talent has branched out into a singing career with songs like “Green Grass”.
She is sophisticated, posh, sexy, and very “green” – definitely a Leblas kind of girl.
Scarlett is known as one of the greenest celebs in Hollywood today, along with Leonardo DiCaprio and Julia Roberts. Her Hollywood home is eco-friendly through the use of solar panels on the roof, and her active participation in health problems, such as the fight against AIDS, and women’s rights in the developing countries, have made her a household name in the rhealm of ethics.
She has even held an eco-friendly wedding with now husband Ryan Reynolds at the secluded Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in Vancouver, British Columbia.
We will be on the lookout, watching what next good things Scarlett will do to do her part in saving the environment and helping our global society.

When people think about “ethical” jewellery, there is a typical stereotype towards cheaper product, perhaps made of plastic or lower quality metals, or even vintage, and hardly anyone associates “ethics” with “luxury” and “designer” brands.
We at Leblas want to overcome this stereotype and change this perception for good.
Luxury, modern design, and fashionable jewellery can and should be ethical. And, ethical jewellery can and should be chic and trendy.
With so much talk about global warming and saving the environment, such as the recent talks at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen Dec 2009, consumers will start to shift focus towards purchasing ethical fashion. And see treehugger.com has its own 7 reasons to care about sustainable fashion.
But the question is: do we have to compromise beauty for ethics? Absolutely not, and this is what we are striving for here at Leblas.

There is something intriguing when one enters Stella McCartney’s home page , making it hard not to smile when you see Disney’s Bambi characters blended together with high fashion of one of the hottest international designers of our time.
There are many reasons why we love Stella - her detailing and frills, soft silk materials, sharp tailoring, and those extra touches that empower women in their everyday lives. But, most of all, we love her because she is one of the only designers who have succeeded by sticking to her very strict ethical values. Stella is Green - no leather, no fur, and a lifelong vegetarian, she has managed to make organic and eco-friendly materials chic and fabulous in the high-fashion world. We commend her for her charitable work, and her consistency in using materials that represent her eco beliefs.
Leblas is inspired by such dedicated and hard-working individuals who strive to make a visible difference in the world that we live in. Our ethical jewellery policy focuses on saving the environment by using only recycled gold and silver to discourage further mining that negatively effects the environment.
